Our company specializes in working hand in hand with the Wayuu tribe under fair trade practices to produce a high quality product for the international market generating employment, income, education, opportunities and welfare to women and children in impoverished circumstances. High respect is given to this community´s belief and values, environment and their work is appreciated and promoted. Prime selection of raw material is given to the women in the form of cotton colors in accordance to the season as well as other sewing tools to guarantee income flow.
For summer we select vibrant and vivid colors for the weaving process and in winter, our palette is mostly earth tones and hues resembling the tribe's desert landscape and environment. Each handcrafted "mochila", tote, bracelet or clutch handbag is a "one-of-a-kind" masterpiece. The weaving process of each piece takes an average of 25 days for regular sized handbags and each member will create and provide input in her own design and interpretation of her abstract world to produce a unique masterpiece.
After having finished a supreme raw material quality Wayuu handbag, we then go one step further to embellish the artwork of the artisans with our own BOHO CHIC designs hiring women in single-parent households generating a better quality of life for Colombia's female population.
